2008

Dear Divers

The regional Boathandling SDC this year is scheduled to run on the 1st and 2nd of MArch2008. This will be a Boathandling SDC and Diver Cox'n assessments are planned weekend. As the course is a regional event, participants are expected to bring their own RHIB. Each RHIB can be used to train up to 3 students and it must have all the "Essential Equipment" listed in the The Combined Diving Associations "GUIDELINES FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF MEMBER CLUB DIVE BOATS" on it. Students that do not have access to a RHIB need to advise me of this and I will try my best to find a space on a boat for you. I expect the cost to be around £80 for the 2 day event, including book, training materials and fuel. If you are interested in attending the event or know of someone who would like to come, please contact me with the name, BSAC number, email and phone number.

If you already have passed the Diver Coxn Assessment and would like to assist on the BH event with a view of becoming a Boathandling Instructor, again, please forward me your details. To organise the SDC I will need confirmed names and a £35 non-refundable deposit by the 5th of Frebruar 2008. Looking forward to meeting you - safe diving,

Franklyn

What to bring:

Divers are responsible to supply a seaworthy RHIB. Each RHIB can take a maximum of 3 students and I am happy to put you in touch with other participants.

  1. If students want to provide a boat for any of the above the boat must be equipped as laid down in the CDA guidelines for the operation of members boats.
  2. It is strongly recommended that students wanting to do the diver coxn assessment who do not have any chart work experience do the chart work and position fixing course first before being assessed as a diver coxn
  3. Drysuit or Waterproofs with a buoyancy device/ Life Jackets preferred.
  4. Packed Lunches
  5. Waterproof dive slate
  6. Pencils and paper
